Metabolic Balance Programme

As a reminder to you, the Metabolic Balance is a German nutritional programme which came to Britain in 2008. It is designed to re-set your hormone levels, particularly insulin, in order to regulate fat storage, as we are eating the wrong foods regularly and therefore all creating too much insulin. Insulin is a storage hormone that stops us from accessing our fat stores. If you keep insulin levels low you create more glucagon, which tells the liver to start burning fat for energy.

The key to the success of the programme is a blood test that determines which foods work best with your body chemistry. Also important is that...wait for it... you GIVE UP AEROBIC EXERCISE until you reach your target weight. “When clients exercise too soon the fat burning stops. Their body needs energy too fast, to be able to burn body fat.”

Many of my clients are amazed at how well they feel after only a couple of weeks and are amazed at the speed in which they lose fat and gain muscle in such a short space of time without doing any exercise. For example, clients generally gain two kilos of lean muscle in two non-exercising weeks (and lose the equivalent in fat). It’s all evidence of how far the mainstream needs to go in order to fully understand how food and exercise affect the body.

Metabolic Balance is a three-month programme that re-sets your metabolism and hormone levels, particularly insulin, in order to enable your body to reach its natural weight. A blood test shows which foods are best suited to your personal biochemistry and helps determine your eating plan. Key features include leaving a five-hour gap between meals and not mixing protein sources. There is no fat in the first two weeks.

Depending on the amount of weight a client has to lose, the first two to three weeks can result in a stone or more in weight loss. It is important to note this is not water or lean muscle loss, as with many diets, but fat! The diet also increases metabolic rate, rather than decreases it, as happens with many other diets.

The programme was developed by Dr Wolf Funfack, a German expert in nutritional medicine, and food scientist Silvia Bürkle in 2002. Dissatisfied with the options for long-term weight loss, they decided a balanced metabolism was the key. Famous MB advocates include Boy George and Sam Smith, Jemma Kidd and even Hollywood stars such as Jennifer Aniston and Kate Winslet.

The price is £995 to include the blood test, Diet plan and 12 weeks of coaching from me (your Nutrition & Lifestyle Practitioner)!

The most important thing to remember is the fact the MB is healthy and will change the way you think about food - it's likely you'll feel more energised than you have probably felt since your 20's.
